Óscar de Araújo

Óscar de Araújo (born May 13, 1982 in Ainaro , East Timor ) is an East Timorese politician. He is a member of the Congresso Nacional da Reconstrução Timorense (CNRT) party and comes from the municipality of Ainaro .

Career

From 2007 to 2009 Araújo was Deputy Director of the Education Directorate in what was then Ainaro District .

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , Araújo held the 14th place on the list of the CNRT's substitute candidates. At number 32 on the list of the actual candidates in the 2017 parliamentary elections , he still had no chance. In the 2018 parliamentary elections , Araújo missed entry into parliament on list position 37 of the Aliança para Mudança e Progresso (AMP), the joint list of CNRT, PLP and KHUNTO . On June 13, however, he replaced Xanana Gusmão , who constitutionally gave up his seat in anticipation of a government office. Araújo has been secretary of the Parliament's Committee on Constitutional Affairs and Justice (Commission A) since July 4th.
