The BBÖ 2040 / s is a series of diesel-electric two-axle narrow gauge - Diesel locomotives of BBÖ .

history

The first two locomotives were delivered in 1934, the third followed in 1936. The latter differed in details from the first delivered (see table).

The locomotives were used on the Waldviertel narrow-gauge railways and, from St. Pölten , on the branch line of the Mariazellerbahn ("Krumpe").

The Deutsche Reichsbahn designated the locomotives in 1938 as V 15.901–903. The ÖBB gave them the series designation 2190 from 1953 . Since the 2190.03 was in a very poor general condition, an application was made to retire it in 1969. However, it came to the main workshop in St. Pölten as a plant locomotive 053 / s , as the previous plant locomotive was shut down with irreparable damage at that time. In 1974, however, it was returned to the ÖBB vehicle fleet as 2190.03.

In 1992, the 2190.03 got a new R8 engine (as with ÖBB 2091), as there were enough spare parts in stock for this, in contrast to the SV 8 engine (predecessor). However, because this engine required more space, the stem was rebuilt in the same way as the BBÖ 2041 / s series .

2190.01 was retired in 1983, 2190.02 in 1981. Both were sold in 1987 to the ÖGLB association, which today uses the 2091.01 on the mountain route of the Ybbstalbahn . 2190.02 was cannibalized as a spare parts donor.

In 2001 the 2190.03 became the property of the Railway Club Mh.6, which looks after it today. Their use as a shunting locomotive in the HW St. Pölten did not end. She is currently wearing fir green paint.

In 2009 the empty shell of the 2190.02 was handed over to the Waldviertel narrow-gauge railway association, where it was externally refurbished and repainted in carmine red / cream white.

construction

The 2190s have a riveted main frame and center buffer coupling. The locomotive body is supported by leaf springs on the wheel sets. In front of the driver's cab - this is located at the rear end of the frame - is a narrow front building in which the drive systems are housed. The locomotive can be operated from either the left or the right driver's cab.

technology

The speed and tractive power of the locomotives adapt to the trailer loads and the inclines of the route while maintaining the engine speed and power. The power transmission takes place in the Gebus system. The locomotives have a vacuum brake, but do not have a Sifa .
