The steam locomotive series kkStB 55 were freight train locomotives of the kkStB , which originally came from the ÖNWB .

The first delivery of these type C locomotives came from the Floridsdorf locomotive factory in 1889. There were ten pieces, which were given the numbers 241–250 and the series designation XIa at the ÖNWB . In 1893 Floridsdorf replicated six pieces, which were given the numbers 251-256 as the XIb series . Another four pieces were also delivered by Floridsdorf in 1899. They were given the numbers 257-260 and were assigned to the XIb series (some sources also speak of the XIc series for these four machines ).

The dimensions of these machines were similar to those of the kkStB 56 series . Characteristic was the inclined smoke chamber front wall in the upper part. The locomotives had internal controls, the revolving plates were pulled up over the wheels. Due to the large wheels, the machines could also haul passenger trains.

The machines in this series were mainly used in Iglau and Nimburg .

After nationalization in 1909, the kkStB classified it as series  55 .

After the First World War , the machines came to the PKP and to the railways of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and later to the JDŽ , who left them without assigning them their own serial number, as well as to the FS as class  262 and to the ČSD as Row  324.0 . The last ČSD locomotive in this series was sold as a factory locomotive in 1943, the others were withdrawn by 1940.
