Ömer Erzeren
Ömer Erzeren (* 1958 in Ankara , Turkey ) is a German-Turkish author and freelance journalist .
Life
After attending school in Turkey and Germany ( Paderborn ), the son of a doctor studied social sciences in Göttingen before returning to Turkey in 1985 . For over a decade he then worked a. a. as Istanbul correspondent for taz and the Zurich weekly newspaper .
In his last book publication Eisbein in Alanya (2004) he portrayed members of marginalized groups in Germany and Turkey. The author, who is “interested in diversity within a society” (Greenpeace Magazin), has also given victims of torture a voice in another book ( Septemberspuren , 1990) .
Erzeren works as a freelance journalist for a number of German, Turkish and English-language print media. He who now lives in Berlin and Istanbul has German and Turkish citizenship.
Erzeren was the first editor of Persembe , the Turkish supplement to the taz.
