Új Ember ( German " Neuer Mensch ") is a Catholic weekly newspaper in Hungary .

history

The newspaper was founded in 1945. The first edition appeared on August 9, 1945 under editor-in-chief OSB Balduin Pénzes (1910–1980). With the exception of a six-month period after the revolution of 1956 , it has been published weekly until today. Basically, the newspaper was the mouthpiece of the Catholic Church in Hungary , but because of the communist dictatorship , articles on questions of faith were primarily published.

Current situation

The editors of the sheet in 6000 churches and 3000 parishes launched. The newspaper can also be purchased by subscription or at the newspaper kiosk . It appears on twelve to 16 pages, dealing with questions of the universal church as well as the national church. It focuses primarily - from a Christian point of view - on serious problems of society, public life and culture. The newspaper shows a bourgeois , neoconservative attitude towards everyday issues. The comments , reviews and analyzes that appear deal with questions that affect the life of Christians (especially Catholics ).
