Translator bar
The translator's bar is a literary prize that has been awarded by the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works (VdÜ) to “translator-friendly publishers or public figures” since 2004.
The prize is intended to expressly acknowledge positive examples, particularly in the area of the appointment of translators and the drafting of contracts in the publishing and book trade, and to raise public awareness of related issues. The undoped prize takes the form of an original work of art that "stands for translation in its concrete and figurative meaning". The award is made by an independent jury, which in 2019 included Christiane Buchner, Frank Heibert and Eva Profousová.
