Burkhard Mueller

Burkhard Müller (born December 10, 1959 in Schweinfurt ) is a lecturer in Latin at the Technical University of Chemnitz , freelance literary critic and author .

Müller is a journalist and part-time Latin lecturer at the University of Chemnitz. As a book author, he publishes on a wide range of topics, for example from evolutionary theory (critical examination of Darwin) to anti-religious fundamental criticism and literary criticism. Müller also regularly writes literary reviews in the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Müller's contributions can also be found in the cultural magazine Merkur . In Chemnitz he organizes readings together with Eske Bockelmann at Weltecho , a cultural center in the city center. In 2008 he was awarded the Alfred Kerr Prize awarded in 2012 the translators bark by the literary association of German-speaking translators and scientific works , VdÜ, for special contributions to literary translation. Müller is a member of the PEN Center Germany .

In connection with a critical review of a book by Jochen Hörisch (Müller had told Hörisch in his review that Hörisch urgently needed a “serious friend”, to which Hörisch countered that Müller might need “a friend or a psychotherapist”), the Perlentaucher came to one written discussion between Müller and Hörisch.
