The Þverá (isl. "Tributary") is a river in the south of Iceland .
It is about 20 km long and the drain for the waters from Fljótshlíð . Dams prevent flooding of the Markarfljót from pouring into the Þverá. The largest (right) tributary is the Eystri-Rangá . About 6 km further on, the Ytri-Rangá also flows into the verá. From now on the river is called Hólsá and flows into the sea after 11 km.
The place Oddi lies on the river bank.
