The ČD series 843 is a four-axle diesel multiple unit of the Czech Railways (ČD) for express and express train traffic on the non-electrified main lines in the Czech Republic. The basis of the construction is the predecessor series 842 , from which the vehicles were further developed through the use of the diesel-electric drive .
In addition to the railcars, a large number of series 043 trailer cars and some 943 series control cars were procured. In 1997 the prototype 843.001 was created and in the same year the remaining vehicles up to the 843.031 .
technical features
The car body is a self-supporting welded construction with rolled and curved profiles, which are clad on the outside with carbon steel sheets. Stainless profile sheets were used for the roof and the floor. The bogies of the four-axle motor vehicle are welded and have double suspension with the vehicle body. The brakes in the bogie are designed as disc brakes with brake discs on the outer wheel surfaces.
The interior of the car body consists of two compartments for passengers, two entrance areas, the luggage compartment and two driver's cabs for the train driver. An electro-pneumatically controlled two-part and one-part pivoting sliding door are used to switch passengers. The seating is in the arrangement 2 + 2 in mutual arrangement. The seats can be folded up to accommodate bulky goods. The vehicles are designed as central aisle vehicles. The windows are designed as side wall drop windows and consist of tinted double glass with integrated sun protection. The vehicles are handicapped accessible. They have a lifting platform for people with reduced mobility and a disabled toilet .
The railcars have two horizontally installed LIAZ - diesel engines with 300 kW power. The power is transferred electrically to all four axles of the vehicle. The favorable frictional load allows especially economical use on steep slopes with sidecars. For the first time at ČD, the railcars were given push-pull control. Automatic speed regulation (ARR-Automatická Regulace Rychlosti) is used for driving and braking control of the railcar. The vehicles are equipped with five different braking options; the direct-acting vehicle brake , the indirectly-acting traction brake DAKO-P, the electric brake , the microprocessor-controlled supplementary brake as a combination of the last two and the hand and parking brakes.
The car is heated by an underfloor hot air heater, which uses the heat generated by the cooling circuit of the diesel engines. The driver's cabs are equipped with air conditioning . The microprocessor control and the diagnostic system allow multiple control of the two motors of the car as well as the diagnostics of all cars in the train composition.
commitment
The vehicles are preferably used in express and express train services on non-electrified main routes with medium traffic. The use as a push-pull train enabled the continuous route Praha Masarykovo n. - Chomutov - Karlovy vary dolní n. , During which the direction of travel was changed twice. Typical routes of use of the multiple units are the express train connections of the Silesian Semmering , Liberec - Ústí nad Labem západ and Liberec - Pardubice . The use of the railcars in express train service over the 25 per mil ramps on the former North Bohemian transversal railway between Liberec and Česká Lípa and on the 33 per mil routes of the Silesian Semmering is remarkable.
