kkStB 78
The kkStB 78 was a tender steam locomotive series of the Austrian k.k. State railways kkStB with the type D n2t, which was procured by the kkStB itself (78.01–05), but also came from the Reichenberg-Gablonz-Tannwalder Railway (78.10–11).

The kkStB procured five quadruple-coupled tank locomotives for the Arlbergbahn , which were delivered by Krauss / Munich in 1884 . Strictly speaking, they were developed by Krauss in the course of a competition to find the right locomotive for the Arlberg. The machines were called Series V II in the old series scheme of the kkStB and were later assigned the designation 78.01-05 . The 73 series finally prevailed on the Arlberg . The 78s were retired before 1914.

The Reichenberg-Gablonz-Tannwalder Eisenbahn RGTE ordered two quadruple-coupled tank locomotives from the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik for the Reichenberg - Gablonz route , which were delivered in 1888. They were given the names MAFFERSDORF and PROSCHWITZ and the numbers 1G and 2G . Outwardly, the machines resembled the kkStB 478 , the engine and boiler dimensions largely matched those of the XV series of the Austrian Northwest Railway .
After the state took over the business in 1902, the kkStB gave the machines the designation 78.10–11 .
After the First World War , the two locomotives came to ČSD as 400.001–002 . They were eliminated in 1933.
