The ČSD class E 469.3 (from 1988: class 123 ) is an electric freight locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) for the 3 kV direct current system in the north and east of the former Czechoslovakia . They represent a further development of the predecessor series E 469.1 and E 469.2 .

development

In 1971, in order to be able to replace the last steam locomotives on the ČSD lines electrified with 3 kV direct current , it was necessary to order 29 locomotives based on the E 469.2 design from Škoda in Plzeň . As the performance parameters of these locomotives differed slightly from this series, they were included in the new series E 469.3.

The locomotives are largely similar to the predecessor series E 469.2 . Originally 30 locomotives were ordered. The most recently built locomotive E 469.3030 was designed as a prototype for the vehicles of the 2nd generation. This locomotive was therefore classified in the class E 469.4 (from 1988: class 124) and was later given the designation 124.601. It is in use at the Railway Research Institute in Velim (VUŽ).

The locomotives came to ČD after 1993 and are only used from Ústí nad Labem . Most of the locomotives have been taken out of service in recent years, but some are still used in freight train service on the North Bohemian routes.
