The class E 499.1 (from 1988: class 141 ) is an electric locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) for the 3 kV direct current system in the north and east of the former Czechoslovakia . The locomotives represent a further development of the predecessor series E 499.0 (today series 140).
The first prototype of the series was built by Škoda in Plzeň in 1957 . The series locomotives were built between 1959 and 1960. The tractive force and speed control is carried out using a series parallel connection with starting resistors, which was common for direct current locomotives at the time .
All locomotives came to ČD after 1992 and some are still in use. E 499.112 is an operational museum locomotive of the Děčín depot , but is also used in scheduled traffic.
