Current situation

ČZUB 2011

Weapons production, which was the main focus of the product range when the company was founded, is still one of the most important branches of production today - handguns make up two thirds of sales. Here handguns play the most important role for the army, police and other security associations, but hunting and sports are slowly gaining in importance. In 2011 over one hundred and seventy thousand small arms were manufactured.

While around 70 percent of handguns were exported in 2011, it was already around 90 percent in 2014/2015. The largest buyers at that time were the Thai Army and the Ministry of the Interior of Egypt, hunting and sporting weapons were to a large extent on the market in Russia and Australia. The share of the company ČZUB in total arms exports from the Czech Republic is around 25 percent.

The company, which had almost 1,800 employees in 2014/2015, achieved sales of over 2 billion crowns in 2011, then 2.69 billion crowns in 2013 and 3.37 billion crowns in 2014.

Products

ČZ 805 BREN

The portfolio of Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod is still mainly made up of the manufacture of weapons, in particular handguns. Successful products include, for example:

At the present time, civil production is still an important part of the company's portfolio, accounting for around a third of sales. These mechanical engineering products are primarily various parts for the automotive and aircraft industries.

Remarks

  1. Different dates are occasionally given for the founding day as well as for the start of production, etc., which differ by just a few days or weeks.
  2. The organizational structural measures that were carried out by the Czechoslovak government in 1946–1989, in particular, lead to the fact that even in the official documents of one and the same company these are recorded imprecisely and contradictingly.
