İbrahim Əzizov

İbrahim oğlu Vahab Əzizov ( Russian : Ибрагим Вагаб оглы Азизов , English transcription Ibrahim oglu Azizov Vahab ; * 5 August 1947 in Qarqay , Rayon Zaqatala , AsSSR , USSR ) is a Azerbaijani biologist .

Life and accomplishments

After attending the agricultural technical college in Zaqatala , Əzizov began studying biology at the Azerbaijan State University . In 1971 he taught biology and chemistry at the secondary schools in Qandax and Mosul of the Zaqatala Rayon, but the following year he switched to the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences AsSSR , where he did research in the Department of Biochemistry and Plant Physiology under Cəlal Əliyev on photochemical studies Activity of chloroplasts in the ontogeny of different wheat varieties. In 1978, under the direction of Cəlal Əliyev, a laboratory for photosynthesis-physiology was established at the Institute of Botany, whose first colleague İbrahim Əzizov; In 1987 Əzizov became head of the newly created laboratory for photochemistry of chloroplasts. The laboratory and Əzizov have been part of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology since 2014. He has been teaching plant physiology and biochemistry at Baku State University since 1982 .

In 1981 he defended his dissertation in the field of plant physiology on the capacity of photosynthesis of chloroplasts in the ontogenesis of different wheat varieties. In 1994 he received a doctorate in biological sciences on the subject of the activity of photochemical reactions in chloroplasts. His main research interests are the physiology of photosynthesis and the study of the effects of adverse environmental factors such as high temperature, drought and salinity on chloroplasts on the productivity of various wheat genotypes.

In 2001 Əzizov was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and was awarded the Şöhrət Order on December 14, 2005 by the President of the Republic .
