İhlas Haber Ajansı (İhlas News Agency, İHA) is an international news agency based in Istanbul . Alongside the state agency Anadolu and the also private Doğan agency , it is one of the three major news agencies in Turkey .

İHA is a subsidiary of İhlas Yayın Holding , which in turn belongs to the conglomerate İhlas Holding . İHA is interwoven with the news channel TGRT Haber and the daily newspaper Türkiye from the same media group. This is considered to be close to the Justice and Recovery Party (AKP) and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan .

When it was founded in 1993, İHA was the first news agency to provide moving images from Turkey. The company operates 110 studios and offices in Turkey and 35 abroad, including studios in Berlin , London , Athens , Washington, DC , Baghdad , Cairo , Nairobi and Kabul . İHA has 32 uplink stations, most of them abroad. According to its own information, the agency supplies around 200 subscribers abroad.

“İhlas” (in the German spelling of the Arabic word: “Ichlās”) comes from Arabic and means “devotion”, “loyalty”, “sincerity”, “loyalty” and is eponymous for the 112th sura of the Koran . In Islamic theology, this means “the religious attitude of those” who “focus their faith entirely on God”.
