İlter Turan (* 1941 in Istanbul ) is professor (emeritus) for international relations at the İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi .

Life

Turan received a bachelor's degree in political science from Oberlin College (USA) in 1961 and a master's degree from Columbia University in 1964 . In the same year he became an assistant at the Istanbul University Faculty of Economics . In 1966 he was appointed doctor, 1970 associate professor and 1976 professor. Until 1993 he taught at Istanbul University.

Between 1998 and 2001 İlter Turan was the rector of Bilgi University. In July 2016, Turan was elected President of the International Political Science Association (IPSA). His term of office is two years.
