Ōasa Yūji

Ōasa Yūji ( Japanese 大麻 勇 次 ; * January 16 or 20, 1887 in Anrakuji, Tamana , Kumamoto Prefecture , Japan ; † February 22, 1974 ) was a Japanese Kendōka and 10th Dan Hanshi .

In 1930 he founded the Reido Dojo in Matsubara-machi, Saga , Kyūshū . He was graduated to Hanshi (now about 8th Dan) in May 1936 and 10th Dan in 1957. From September 8, 1963 he was together with four other Kendō teachers on a demonstration tour through North and South America . Ōasa was a committee member of the All-Japanese Kendō Federation and President of the Kendō Association of Saga Prefecture. Professionally, he was a consultant to one of the largest cosmetics companies in Japan.

In 1963 he received the Order of Merit on the Purple Ribbon , in 1965 the Order of the Rising Sun 4th Class and in 1969 the Culture Prize of the Saga Shimbun newspaper .
