The Šarūnas Marčiulionis Basketball Academy ( lit.Sarūno Marčiulionio krepšinio akademija ) is a sports school for basketball in Vilnius . The team "Š.Marčiulionio KA-Twomenas" plays in the Nacionalinė krepšinio lyga (NKL), other teams play in Lietuvos moksleivių krepšinio lyga (MKL) and the European Youth Basketball League (EYBL). The school's motto is: “Be master of your will and slave of your conscience” (“Būk savo valios viešpats ir savo sąžinės vergas”).

history

In September 1992 the school opened on Vytenio Street in Naujamiestis and was attended by 300 students. In addition to the main hall, two basketball halls were also rented. From 1994 the new school was built on Raitininkų Street in Žirmūnai . 18 countries were visited by 1997. At that time there were 600 students. In addition to basketball, they learned English, ethics and aesthetics and worked with the computers.

In the summer of 2002, the Šarūnas-Marčiulionis basketball school became a basketball academy. The status was granted by the European Fédération Internationale de Basketball Council. At that time there were already 770 students. 10 trainers and 4 additional education teachers worked with them. 63 tournaments were held in the academy, 24 of them international. The academy's teams have played in 26 countries so far. In 2007 there were 850 students.
