Martynas Gecevičius (born May 16, 1988 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian basketball player .
Career
society
Martynas Gecevičius learned to play basketball in the basketball school of Šarūnas Marčiulionis . He signed his first professional contract in 2004 with Sakalai Vilnius . In January 2007 he moved to the city neighbor Lietuvos Rytas . After he won the BBL in 2007 with Lietuvos Rytas , 2009 was the most successful year for LRytas. Gecevičius won the ULEB Eurocup , the BBL and the Lithuanian double from championship and cup with his club . The national double was defended in 2010 as well. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season Gecevičius moved to Greece to Olympiacos Piraeus . With Olympiacos he won the Greek championship in 2012. In the same year Gecevičius celebrated his greatest personal success so far by winning the ULEB Euroleague 2012. He was able to defend this title with his team in 2013. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he moved back to Lietuvos Rytas.
Lithuanian national basketball team
After Gecevičius had passed through various Lithuanian selection teams, he was appointed to the Lithuanian national basketball team in 2010 . He took part in the 2010 World Basketball Championship and won the bronze medal.
