Serif Konjević (born April 26, 1958 in Sanica , today Ključ , Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Bosnian singer who achieved great popularity in the entire territory of the former Yugoslavia as well as in parts of Hungary , Bulgaria and Turkey . His style of music belongs to folk music, which is popular in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the other countries of the former Yugoslavia.

Konjević regularly gives concerts in the countries of the Western Balkans as well as in Slovenia , Austria , Germany and Switzerland , where he mainly reaches Bosnian migrants.

Life and advancement as a singer

After graduating from school in Bosnia, the young Konjević moved to his older brother in Slovenia to start an apprenticeship in his company in the construction industry. But he had to return to his hometown. There he first sang at private occasions. In 1975 he met Nazif Gljiva who recommended him to work professionally as a musician. With the help of Gljiva he recorded his first two albums: Đul Zulejha and O suze moje .

In 1982 he released the album Bijela Vjenčanica , which sold over 800,000 times; from then on some saw Serif Konjević as the successor to the successful Safet Isović . Further albums followed until 1991, which sold around 550,000 times. More and more his albums deviated from Safet Isović's style. Shortly before the outbreak of war, the album Neko čudno vrijeme (German: A Strange Time) was released, which dealt with the situation in Yugoslavia at the time.

During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina , Konjević emigrated to Germany. When his brother was killed in Bosnia, out of anger at the Serbs he released the two patriotic albums Vukovi and Mom bratu rahmetli in 1993 .

He is now working in Sarajevo again, but records his albums in Germany.

Serif Konjević was also successful in many duets, e.g. B. with Elvira Rahić with the song Ja nisam odkoma .
