Štefan Kollárovits

Štefan Kollárovits (born May 11, 1945 in Bratislava ) is a former Czechoslovak table tennis player . He won bronze in singles at the 1966 European Championships .

Career

Štefan Kollárovits started playing table tennis in 1959 at the STO Štart VD Bratislava club. Under the guidance of coaches František Tokár and P. Krchňák, he developed into one of the top players in Czechoslovakia. In 1965 he moved to the Slavia Prague club because of his studies . In 1966 he won the national championship of the CSSR, in the same year he was placed first on the CSSR rankings.

From 1963 to 1971 he took part in all five world championships . He finished fifth with the team in 1965 and 1967 .

At the European Championships in 1966 he reached the semi-finals in singles after victories over Istvan Korpa (Yugoslavia), Felix Felten (Luxembourg), Pentii Tuominen (Finland), Stuart Gibbs (England) and Dorin Giurgiucă (Romania), where he won the eventual European champion Kjell Johansson was subject. In 1964 and 1972 he was involved in the team's bronze medal. In 1969 he was ranked 22nd in the ITTF world rankings .

Štefan Kollárovits graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague . Later he acquired the trainer's license A. From 1973 Kollárovits worked in Austria as a trainer for ÖTTV or the Vienna Table Tennis Association. In 1975 he joined the Viennese club ABC Komperdell as a player-coach. From 1991 Kollárovits worked in Vienna as an international manager for the ŠKST Sporiteľňa Bratislava.

In 1992 Štefan Kollárovits returned to Slovakia and took over the office of President of ŠKST Sporiteľňa Bratislava. From 1993 to 2005 he was also director of marketing and sponsorship of the club of medalists at world and European championships. After the Sparkasse (Sporiteľňa) left the main sponsor, the club was named ŠKST Bratislava from 2002. After the 2002/03 season, the ŠKST Bratislava got out of the super league and was then bought by the entrepreneur Štefan Kobes. In 2003 the term of office of Štefan Kollárovits as President of ŠKST Bratislava ended, his successor was the club owner Štefan Kobes. Štefan Kollárovits is a member of the Swaythling Club International committee .
