Əkpər Feyzullayev

Əkpər Əkbər Oğlu Feyzullayev ( Russian Акпер Акпер оглы Фейзуллаев Akper Akper ogly Feisullajew , English transcription Akper Akper oglu Feyzullayev; * 2. November 1945 in Baku , AsSSR , USSR ) is a Azerbaijani geologist and geochemist specifically in the field of oil and gas fields.

Life and accomplishments

Əkpər Feyzullayev graduated from the Faculty of Geology and Exploration of the Azerbaijan Petroleum and Chemical Institute (now Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University ) with a degree in geology in 1970 . In 1983 he defended his dissertation on hydrocarbon gases from pliocene-anthropogenic sediments in the southeastern part of the lower Kura Depression and the geochemical search for petroleum pools in non-structural depressions, in 1992 he obtained his doctorate in geological-mineralogical sciences on hydrocarbon regimes related to fold systems with geochemical studies of oil and gas. Since 1973 he has worked in various positions at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the AsSSR (today National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan ), currently he is the head of the Department of Fluid Dynamics of Sedimentary Basins. Since 2006 he has been a professor at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and holds the Chair of Petroleum Geology and Exploration.

His scientific research includes the areas of geology and geochemistry of petroleum and gas, fluid dynamics of sedimentary basins, mud volcanism, geochemical exploration methods, and geoecology.

In 2007, Feyzullayev was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, and he was appointed a real academician on May 2, 2017. He was awarded the Tərəqqi medal on March 18, 2008 , and the honorary diploma on November 3, 2015 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and has been the bearer of the Əmək order 3rd class since November 7, 2017 . Feyzullayev is a member of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA).
