't Rijpje ( West Frisian : Roipie ) is a village in the municipality of Schagen , in the province of Noord-Holland , in the Netherlands . It is a typical street village, with many farms.
Earlier names were Rijpwetering , Rijpke or Rijp . The name 't Rijpje has been popular in the vernacular for a long time, while maps, signposts and place-name signs still indicated Rijp until the end of the 1980s .
As a peasantry, 't Rijpje is a sub-unit of the town of Sint Maarten and until 1990 belonged to the municipality of the same name. In 1990 Sint Maarten was incorporated into the Harenkarspel municipality together with Warmenhuizen . Harenkarspel was merged with the community of Schagen in 2013 .
History and sights
Rijp means "bank" or "bank edge". There used to be a mound called Munnikenwerf where the monastery Domus Nostra ( "Our House") was.
The former school building of the Roman Catholic primary school is on the province's list of monuments.
Location and economy
't Rijpje is located on the Rijperweg between Tuitjenhorn and Sint Maarten.
'T Rijpje has a garden center, a car recycling company, a fishing shop and a bike shop, among other things.
