(18610) Arthurdent is an asteroid in the main asteroid belt .

It was discovered on February 7, 1998 by Felix Hormuth from the Heppenheim Starkenburg observatory . Hormuth also suggested naming it after the main character from Douglas Adams ' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , Arthur Dent . The Minor Planet Center agreed to this naming and finally announced the name on May 9, 2001. Douglas Adams died two days after the official naming.
