.aero
.aero is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) operated by the Société Internationale de Télécommunication Aéronautique ( SITA for short ). It was introduced on December 21, 2001 as the first industry-specific domain ever.

The registration of a domain under .aero is only possible for persons or organizations who can prove a clear connection to the aviation industry . These include, for example, airlines , airports , aircraft manufacturers and pilots' unions . In total, an .aero domain can be between two and 63 characters long, whereby not only alphanumeric characters but also special characters can be used.
The allocation usually takes one day, not all registrars support the takeover of .aero domains or the change of owner. Due to the strict allocation criteria, .aero has only achieved a limited distribution compared to other generic top-level domains. In 2005 there were only five registrars worldwide who officially offered .aero domains.
The award criteria were last changed in 2007. In addition to domains with popular terms such as online.aero , IATA airport codes have also been allowed to be used since November 1st . In the following years , for example, the address muc.aero was registered, which forwards to the website of Munich Airport . Since December 1, 2018, they can be registered by all those authorized to register.
