The 1st class Danzig-West Prussia was a second-class soccer league in the Sportgau Danzig-West Prussia during the Nazi era . It served as the substructure of the Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia , existed from 1940 to 1944 and was played in several groups ( districts ). The winners of the districts then played the promoted players to the first-class Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia in a promotion round.
history
After the successful attack on Poland , the clubs from Gdansk and the surrounding area, which had previously played in the East Prussian Gau , were assigned to the Gau Gdansk-West Prussia with the newly founded clubs from the regions of West Prussia that were illegally occupied . After a transition round to the division of the classes in 1940, the game operation in the second class 1st class took place in the season 1940/41 in three districts. There was a new division for the 1942/43 season, the Gau was divided into several districts, and the districts were combined into seven district groups for football matches. In the last season of 1944/45, only a few games have survived; due to the war, gaming operations were stopped in January 1945 at the latest.
