The Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia 1940/41 (officially: Division Class Danzig-West Prussia 1940/41 ) was the first season of the Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia of the Football Department . Due to the illegal conquest of territory during the attack on Poland , the association decided to separate clubs from Danzig and the newly acquired area of ​​the Marienwerder administrative district from the Gauliga East Prussia and create a separate Gauliga for this club. Qualified for the first edition of the Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia were the BuEV Danzig and the SC Preußen Danzig from the Gauliga East Prussia 1939/40 , which was only held with four clubs , as well as the SG Neufahrwasser and the Police SV Danzig as the best-placed teams in the transition round Danzig and the VfR Hansa Elbing and SV Viktoria Elbing as the best-placed teams in the Elbing transition round.

The Gau championship, which was held in a round-robin tournament, won the SC Preußen Danzig unbeaten and thus qualified for the German football championship 1940/41 . In this, the Gdansk first had to play a qualifying game against LSV Posen . After the first game ended 2-2 and the replay was canceled, Prussia Danzig was named the winner by drawing lots. In the group stage that followed, Danzig was third behind Vorwärts-Rasensport Gleiwitz and LSV Stettin , which was not enough to advance. This season there were no relegated teams, as the Gauliga was increased in the next year.
