The building was built in 1878 for the Commercial Bank of Scotland . The nucleus was formed by a building by David Rhind from 1857 ( 6 Gordon Street ), which was added to. The Scottish architect Arthur George Mitchell is responsible for the design . Between 1948 and 1953, the office building was redesigned according to a design by the Hislop & Welsh architecture firm . The client was the company Wilson, Stirling & Co , which had leased parts of the building at that time. The Commercial Bank of Scotland is now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland , which uses the adjacent building.

It is the corner house at the confluence of Gordon Street with Buchanan Street , a shopping street in the center of Glasgow. Opposite Buchanan Street is the 92-100 Buchanan Street building . The four to five-story building is designed in the neo-renaissance style. A striking five-story tower with an octagonal floor plan rises from the edge of the building . At the foot, three arched portals lead to a vestibule with a cross vault . Three iron gates with detailed ornamentation close the openings. The tower closes with a curved dome with a porthole and a lantern .

The adjoining parts of the building are at ground level with wide arched windows. Rusty pilasters structure the facade. Cornices suspect the windows. The Gordon Street entrance was added later.
