1910 Fruitgum Company was an American pop band . It was founded in 1966 by the music producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz for their bubblegum sound.
Career
Kasenetz and Katz decided in the mid-1960s to produce music that was specifically aimed at teenagers as buyers. The result was a simple beat rhythm that was enriched with nursery rhymes as refrains. They put together a few studio musicians to record the song Simon Says .
The name of this "retort tape" came from the wrapping paper of an old chewing gum that they found by accident. So the name for this new style of music was found: Bubblegum Music . Other representatives of this were, for example, the Partridge Family , The Music Explosion , The Archies or Ohio Express .
When Simon Says became a million seller , a band had to be put together for touring. By the end of 1970 several successful records with changing musicians were released, then this band broke up again.
