Harald Sükar

Harald Sükar (born January 19, 1963 in Kirchberg an der Raab , Styria ) is an Austrian lawyer . Until July 2006 he was president of the Austrian soccer club GAK .

Life

Harald Sükar completed a law degree at the University of Graz between 1982 and 1987 . From 1988 to 1991 he worked at Hofer KG and then switched to Aral . From 1993 he held several positions at McDonald’s Development Company CE. In November 2004 he became Managing Director of McDonald's Austria and in December 2004 President of the Austrian Franchise Association. Since mid-2006 he has been the managing director of a bakery chain in Graz that his wife had previously acquired.

On June 24, 2005, Sükar took over the presidency of the GAK soccer club from his predecessor Rudi Roth . He introduced a strict austerity policy for the then reigning Austrian soccer champions from 2004 and called for the increased use of young players from his own offspring. To reorganize the budget, key players such as Mario Tokić , René Aufhauser and Mario Bazina were sold. In January 2006 he put the successful coach Walter Schachner on leave due to differences over the future course of the club and replaced him with Lars Søndergaard . On July 14, 2006, he resigned from his position at the General Assembly for private reasons, followed by his previous deputy, Stefan Sticher .

Harald Sükar is married.
