The edition a is an Austrian book publisher based in Vienna .

The focus of work is on current non-fiction and factual novels. The published authors include Johannes Huber , Sarah Wiener , Thomas Brezina , Franz Vranitzky , Gerald Hörhan , Roland Düringer , Niki Lauda , Stefan Thurner , and Conny Bischofberger .

The publishing house was founded in 2004 by the journalist and author Bernhard Salomon with advice and support from the entrepreneur Herbert Ziehensack. After a joint venture with Styria Buchholding, Bernhard Salomon had been the main shareholder since 2010 and has been the sole shareholder since 2019.

Edition a only publishes original hardcover editions and grants paperback licenses to Goldmann , Ullstein , Droemer Knaur and Rowohlt, among others .

The publishing house made its breakthrough with Elfriede Vavrik's life story Nacktbadestrand , which sold more than 500,000 times. He publishes 15 to 20 books a year. Every year, more than half of the books achieve placements on the bestseller lists published by the Main Association of Austrian Booksellers, based on actual sales figures.
