After the fire
After the Fire (ATF) is the name of a British progressive rock or new wave band that was founded in late 1971 by former physics teacher Peter Banks (keyboards) and John Leach (bass). Ian Adamson joined the drummer in 1972. 1971 to 1983 both music styles and musicians changed frequently. In 2004 the group was revived by former members.
Hits
1980-f
A very well-known title in Germany is the instrumental piece 1980-f. This piece became known as the theme music for the TV show Na sowas! with Thomas Gottschalk , which started in March 1982. As early as 1981, 1980-f was the signature tune of the radio show "Club 15" in Bayern 3, moderated by Jürgen Herrmann and Thomas Gottschalk, and the radio show Das Club Wunschkonzert on NDR 2 , moderated by Günter Fink. Also SDR 3 used from 1981 to 1987 the song as the theme song for the show plate mail. In Cologne the piece has been the dynamic intro for the alternative carnival cult event Stunksitzung for many years , covered by the house band " Köbes Underground ".
One rule for you
One Rule for You was the group's first chart hit in England .
The commissioner
Der Kommissar is an English-language cover version of the Falco hit Der Kommissar from 1982. Only the part All right, Mr Commissioner and one, two, three remained the same. In the European countries rather mediocre success, the band could even make it to number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 with this song . It was the group's only hit in the US. However, success came with a year delay in 1983 - by that time the band had already broken up.
