Occurrence
trans -2-octen-1-ol occurs naturally in apples, blueberries, guavas, oranges, melons, peas, potatoes, chickens, wine, cognac, rum and mushrooms. In addition to edible mushrooms, the compound can also be found in the volatile metabolic products MVOC of molds, which can be identified by their smell .
