The 207th Security Division was a German infantry division of the Army in World War II in Military District II .
Division history
On March 15, 1941, the 207th Security Division was set up on the Groß Born training area from the staff and a third of the 207th Infantry Division .
From June 1941 to February 1944 the large formation was deployed in the rear army area north. During this time, operations against partisans were carried out in the Torma area. The commander von Tiedemann said that the partisans should be treated as soldiers and suggested other, "all too humane" treatment instead of being shot. These statements were taken as criticism of the government and seen as disintegration. The process was recorded in the Reich Security Main Office . In 1942 the division was used as part of the Estonian Self- Defense. At the end of 1942 during a reorganization of the XXXVI. Assigned to the Army Corps , the deployment in the area around Staraya Russa , especially Lake Lagdoga , followed from 1943 to early 1944 . In March 1944, belonging to the 18th Army , the operational areas around Lake Peipus followed . In April 1944 the division was regrouped and from August, now subordinate to the 1 6th Army , operational areas around Dorpat and later in Courland .
In November 1944 the division was dissolved. The division staff remained with the 16th Army in Courland for special use until April / May 1945 .
