The 207th Infantry Division (207th ID) was a German infantry division of the Army in World War II in Wehrkreis II .
Division history
The 207 ID was set up in Stargard as a division of the 3rd wave of deployment in August 1939. Your first assignment served the border guard behind the 4th Army in Pomerania . During the attack on Poland in September 1939, the 207 ID marched from Bütow to Berent and Karthaus as far as Gdynia . After the conquest of Poland, the 207 ID remained there as an occupation force until December 1939. During this time, the division was subordinate to the SS-Standarte / Regiment “Der Führer” . Then the unit was transferred to Westphalia to the 6th Army and later reclassified under the 18th Army .
In 1940, the 207th ID on was Fall Gelb involved and let out Elten in the Netherlands before and came over IJssel and the Lower Rhine as far as Arnhem . She could take Ede , Rhenen , Utrecht , Doorn , Amsterdam and Scheveningen with her.
In the battle for France , she was one of the troops that Paris was to take. However, the 207 ID was ordered back to the Netherlands before reaching its destination. The inactivation of the division took place in August 1940 in the Heimatwehr district of Pomerania. At the beginning of 1941, the large formation at the Groß Born military training area was divided into the newly established security divisions 207 , 281 and 285 .
A so-called traditional association of 207/281 existed for this division after the war . Infantry Division (also Association of Former Infantry Division No. 207 in Berlin ), which published various publications on the history of the division.
