The 33rd Infantry Division was a major unit of the Army of the German Wehrmacht .
history
The division was set up on April 1, 1936 in Darmstadt in military district XII (Wiesbaden) and mobilized in August 1939 as a division of the 1st wave of deployment . It was then used on the western border in the Saarpfalz area. After participating in the western campaign , she was relocated to Germany in October 1940 and reclassified to the 15th Panzer Division on November 11, 1940 .
