The 27th Infantry Division (ID) was a major unit of the army of the German Wehrmacht during World War II .

Division history

Areas of application :

  • Poland: September 1939 to May 1940
  • France: May to November 1940

The 27th Infantry Division was set up on October 1, 1936 as part of the 1st wave of deployment in Augsburg in military district VII . The division took part in the attack on Poland and in the western campaign. On November 1, 1940, it was reorganized as the 17th Panzer Division .
