The 333rd Infantry Division was a major unit of the army of the German Wehrmacht during World War II .

Division history

The 333rd Infantry Division was set up in November 1940 in Military District III in Berlin and Brandenburg as a native division of the 14th wave of deployment . She served as an occupation force in France for a while . At the end of October 1942, the unit was converted into a field-ready attack division and relocated to the Eastern Front, where it was subordinated to Army Group South . She struggled with the XXXX. Panzer Corps of the 1st Panzer Army near Donetsk and Isjum , in October 1943 the retreat to Zaporozhye on the Dnepr . After continuing fighting in the Ukraine, the 333rd Infantry Division had to be disbanded in November 1943. The remnants were divided between divisional group 333 and the 278th and 294th infantry divisions .
