The 380 kV Sils – Soazza line is a single-circuit high-voltage line for three-phase alternating current . It is an important link of the Laufenburg electricity company for their export of electrical energy to Italy. The Hinterrhein power plants enjoy the transmission rights . The Energiestrasse begins in the switching station in Sils im Domleschg . It follows the Schams , the Rheinwald and the San Bernardino . Another switching station is located in Soazza in the Misox . A two-circuit 380 kV line picks up the electricity there and transports it directly to Italy .

On September 28, 2003, the lights went out across Italy. The reason was the country's dependency on imports , which cannot cover its electricity needs from its own generation, but obtains a large part from Switzerland and France. The trigger for the power outage was a tree that came too close to the Lukmanier line (a 380 kV line from Aare-Tessin AG for electricity ) near Brunnen at three o'clock in the morning, which resulted in the shutdown of this important north-south connection via the Lukmanierpass caused. As a result of the subsequent overload, several lines from Austria , Slovenia , France and Switzerland failed from 3:01 in the morning , including the 380 kV line Sils – Soazza.
