occupation

3D Sex and Zen - Extreme Ecstasy (Original title: 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy ) is an erotic film released in 2011 by Christopher Suen from Hong Kong .

action

The action takes place in the Ming Dynasty . Wei Yangsheng falls in love with Tie Yuxiang, the daughter of a Daoism priest, and marries her. However, he cannot satisfy his wife sexually. In the Prince of Ning's "Pavilion of Supreme Bliss" Wei Yangsheng seeks help from the Master of Bliss, a transgender person . He undergoes a penis transplant and receives the genitals of a donkey .

production

It is a free film adaptation of the novel Devotional Mats made of Meat (肉 蒲團, Ròu pútuán , English The Carnal Prayer Mat ) by Li Yu from 1657, which was filmed under the title Sex and Zen in 1991 and two sequels in 1996 and 1998 ( Sex and Zen II and Sex and Zen III ).

The film was initially called the first "real" Asian erotic film shot in 3D, but this title had to be given to the South Korean film Natalie , which was released in 2010 . The application as the first IMAX 3D erotic film from Hong Kong also failed because IMAX refused to include the film in the program.

reception

Michael Fleig was extremely critical:

“Of course, it is not the real porn that the film was originally touted as. Although there is a lot of bare skin and breasts as well as copulation in all positional variations, an explicit showing of sexual intercourse and primary genitals is avoided. [...]

Surprisingly, director Christopher Sun Lap Key does not use 3D technology to stage the human body. The possibility of scanning and exposing it in its three-dimensionality remains completely unused. [...]

The unsuccessful real-life animations essentially undermine the concept of the film as a single spectacle that it would like to be. In the richest colors, it brings together elements of comedy, fantasy and action films in a crude mixture alongside the predominant soft sex. Occasionally there is even some splatter. [...]

In the second half, the depiction of sexual acts moves from the pleasure principle to the pain principle, when sexual violence in the form of rape, torture or unintentionally fatal coitus can be seen. Excessively exaggerated and thus defused, such moments ultimately come in the guise of absurd clothes. "
