Events
- Kimon sends a contingent of troops to Sparta from Athens to support the Spartians against the rebellious helots . In the meantime, however, Sparta has got the Helots uprising under control and the Spartan elite fears the increase in democratic beliefs in Lacedaemon due to the presence of the Athenian associations. Kimon and his hoplites will be sent back to Athens as quickly as possible. This is of course seen by Athens as a foreign affront and strains the relations between the two poles and the developing power blocs of the Peloponnesian League and the Delisch-Attian Sea League .
- On his return, Kimon is banished from Athens by a shard court initiated by Ephialtes and Pericles because of his Sparta-friendly policies. Ephialtes is murdered shortly afterwards.
