55 Water Street is a 209 meter tall skyscraper in New York City . Completed in 1972, the 53-story building is located between Water Street and Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive in Lower Manhattan . Emery Roth & Sons designed the building which, along with 277 Park Avenue, will be the 51st tallest building in New York City. When it was completed in 1972, it was the largest office building in the world in terms of area and is still the largest building in New York City in terms of area. The Willis Tower is the only building in the US that has more space than 55 Water Street. To this day, despite the skyscrapers surrounding it, it is a striking feature in the Lower Manhattan skyline and draws attention to itself primarily with its yellow-striped facade. Directly on the side of the building is another high-rise, which has 17 floors and a small, freely accessible green area that is intended to serve as a place of rest.
