history

In order to avert significant disadvantages for other local broadcasters in Rhineland-Palatinate, the broadcasting operation as a so-called transitional program is "tolerated" by the State Center for Media and Communication (LMK) Rhineland-Palatinate until a new license is granted . This transitional regulation is guaranteed by the local radio RLP GmbH. The program can be received in the Trier region via VHF .

On December 21, 2009, the State Center for Media and Communication (LMK) announced that from January 3, 2010 the frequencies previously used by Antenne West 88.4 MHz Trier , 94.7 MHz Wittlich and 87.8 MHz Welschbillig temporarily an unmoderated music program in the " Adult Contemporary " format (AC) is broadcast. It will contain news every hour from Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and local information produced every half hour with a length of 1.5 to 3 minutes. 884 Trier can thus be received in the city of Trier and the surrounding area.

The Landeszentrale für Medien und Kommunikation (LMK) Rhineland-Palatinate decided on this temporary transitional measure, as otherwise the local broadcasters in Rhineland-Palatinate would have suffered considerable disadvantages. The broadcast in Trier is part of a channel combination. For national advertising, if part of the advertising service fails due to the loss of channels, there is a risk that the marketing of the other channels will also be damaged.

In its meeting on June 21, 2010, the LMK assigned the transmission frequencies to The Radio Group . On November 13, 2010, their station Cityradio Trier started operating on these frequencies.
