Aërope (daughter of Cepheus)
Aërope ( Greek Ἀερόπη , the one with the foggy white face ) is in Greek mythology a daughter of King Cepheus of Tegea . Possibly she is equated with a daughter of Cepheus named Sterope or Asterope.
According to Pausanias gave birth Aerope the Ares the Aeropos , but died during childbirth. Ares made sure that the newborn could still be breastfed extensively on the dead mother's breast, and was then given the nickname Aphneios, the productive. A sanctuary of Aphneios near Tegea reminded of the anecdote in the time of Pausanias .
