Aššur-apla-iddina (also Ashur-apla-iddina, or Assur-apla-idina ) was an Assyrian king or pretender to the throne . The Assyrian royal list calls him "son of a nobody", which means that he was not related to the previous royal house. According to the list, his contemporary or predecessor Aššur-dugul was also the son of a nobody, and there are five other nobody sons Nasir-Sin, Sin-namir, Ipqi-Ištar, Adad-salulu and Adasi who ruled at the beginning of his short reign .
