Alan Cotton Meigh
Alan Cotton Meigh (* 1920 ; † April 11, 2010 in Hungerford ), mostly quoted as AC Meigh , was a British civil engineer and specialist in the field of geotechnical engineering .
Meigh had a doctorate in engineering (D.Sc.) and a proven expert in pressure sounding , for which he wrote the standard work Cone penetration testing: methods and interpretation in the 1980s . Another area of work was general field measurement methods ("in-situ tests"). In the 1980s he worked at Woodward-Clyde Consultants in West Woodhay, Berkshire .
Awards and memberships
In 1976 Meigh was awarded a Rankine Lecturer by the British Geotechnical Association for his work entitled "The Triassic rocks, with particular reference to predicted and observed performance of some major foundations".
Meigh was a Fellow of the Geological Society of London , the City and Guilds of London Institute (FCGI), the Institution of Civil Engineers and an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
