Rankine Lecture

The Rankine Lecture is an honor for achievements in geotechnical engineering by the British Geotechnical Association and is considered one of the highest honors in this area. They have been held since 1961 and published in Géotechnique magazine. In even-numbered years the honoree comes from Great Britain, in odd-numbered years from abroad. They were held at the Institution of Civil Engineers until 1972 , then at Imperial College . They are named after the pioneer of soil mechanics, William John Macquorn Rankine .
