The A980 road is an A-road in Scotland . It leads from Banchory am Dee through the sparsely populated regions of Aberdeenshire to near Alford am Don .

In the center of Banchory the A980 branches off from the A93 ( Perth - Aberdeen ). After initially running north for 3.5 kilometers, it bends northwest at the confluence of the B977. The road connects to the hamlet of Milton of Campfield and then follows the course of the Beltie Burn for a few kilometers . As the main road it leads through Torphins , where the A980 crosses the B993. Two kilometers to the west it crosses the Beltie Burn and soon reaches Lumphanan . Turning gradually to the north, the road crosses the B9119 and then follows the course of the Leochel Burn , which it crosses twice. Two kilometers west of Alford the A980 bends to the east and joins the A944 after a total distance of 33.5 km .
