The A944 road is an A-road in the Scottish council areas of Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen .
course
The road branches off from the A96 at a roundabout in the center of Aberdeen . It leads in a westerly direction and first crosses the inner city ring ( A978 ) and then the A90 ( Edinburgh - Fraserburgh ), which runs in a wide arc through the outer districts. The A944 leaves the Council Area Aberdeen and reaches Westhill, the first town in Aberdeenshire. Past the Loch of Skene it runs in a west-northwest direction through the sparsely populated hinterland of Aberdeenshire and after 41 km reaches the next larger town with Alford .
Beyond Alford, the road crosses the Don and runs a few kilometers along its north bank. About twelve kilometers beyond Alford, the A944 joins the A97 ( Banff - Dinnet ) and runs with it for a distance of 15 km. On this section she crosses the village of Kildrummy , passes Kildrummy Castle and crosses the rivers Water of Buchat , Don and the Deskry Water . For the last few kilometers, the A944 follows the course of the Don and crosses it one more time. It ends after a total of 81.8 km with its junction with the A939 ( Ballater - Nairn ) near the hamlet of Corgarff .
