ABC Amsterdam was a Dutch basketball club from Amsterdam . The club won the championship seven times, its last in 2009.

history

The association was founded in 1995. Since you had a sponsor who was willing to pay, you won the first championship in 1999. By then, the club had won the Dutch basketball cup three times. By 2009 there were six more championship titles and three more cup wins.

The club also took part in various European Cup competitions , but played no major role there.

In 2011 a new main sponsor would have been necessary to keep the association financially alive. However, this was not found, the club disbanded. With the BC Apollo there is a new basketball club in Amsterdam.

Name story

Due to the change in the main sponsor, the association has been renamed several times since it was founded:

  • 2003-2006: Demon Astronauts
  • 2006–2007: Amsterdam Astronauts
  • 2007–2009: MyGuide Amsterdam Basketball
  • 2009–2010: EclipseJet Amsterdam Basketball
  • 2010–2011: ABC Amsterdam
